This digitally remastered set brings together 5 classic Coltrane albums; 'Soultrane', 'Blue Train', 'Black Pearls', 'Dakar' and 'Traneing In'.
 
The session for 'Soultrane' was apparently one of Coltrane's favourites and was a showcase for his 'Sheets Of Sound' style. 'Blue Train' is considered to be Coltrane's first solo album with all tracks written by him apart from the Kern/Mercer standard 'I'm Old Fashioned'. 'Black Pearls' like many of the Prestige recordings of its time is a straight ahead hard bop session that purists will savour. 'Dakar' is Coltrane's foray into band leadership and this brings a raw feel and sense of urgency to the proceedings. 'Traneing In' features accompaniment from the Red Garland Trio with the album highlight being 'Soft Lights And Sweet Music' which is testament to the incredible speed and accuracy of the ensemble's playing.
